Itinerary
We begin our adventure by exploring the historic center of Arequipa, visiting the majestic Plaza de Armas, the exterior of the Cathedral, and the beautiful Church and Cloisters of the Society of Jesus.
Next, we’ll head to the stunning Santa Catalina Monastery, a fascinating site that remained closed to the public for centuries. This colonial complex, built with clay and sillar stone, will captivate you with its frescoes and unique architecture. We’ll stroll through its charming narrow streets, squares, and cloisters, surrounded by large sillar walls.
You’ll also have the chance to visit its museum, which houses one of the most important collections of religious art, along with a gallery featuring works from the Cusco School. This visit lasts approximately one hour.
We then move on to the Yanahuara Viewpoint, known for its sillar stone arches with poetic inscriptions. From here, you’ll enjoy a spectacular view of the Chachani, Misti, and Pichu Pichu volcanoes, and admire the church’s baroque façade.
Finally, we’ll visit the Carmen Alto Viewpoint, where the pleasant climate and local crops, such as tumbo and Arequipa papaya, create a charming atmosphere. Here, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of the volcanoes, fertile fields, and the Chili River that runs through the city. On our way back, we’ll stop at the Cayma Square to visit the colonial temple of San Miguel Arcángel.
