Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome Lima.

Begin your adventure with an overnight flight to Lima, the vibrant capital of Peru.

Day 2: Lima.

On arrival you’ll be met by a member of our team and transferred to your hotel. Take the first day to relax and enjoy being in Lima. It’s a rising star of the gastronomic world, so there’s great food everywhere, from Peruvian classics like ceviche to cutting edge fusion food.

Day 3: Lima.

After a leisurely morning, enjoy a city tour of Lima beginning with the historic quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wander around the Plaza Mayor, the official centre and the site where Lima was founded. Continue on to the historic Cathedral and the Presidential Palace. With one of Latin America’s best preserved centres, you get to experience the colonial influence as well as the city’s modern developments.

Day 4: Lima - Arequipa.

Fly south to Arequipa, an attractive colonial town in the shadow of the Andes. You’ll have the afternoon free to visit the pretty 16th-century Santa Catalina convent and stroll around the main square, the Plaza de Armas. There are some intricate examples of Baroque architecture, all constructed from sillar, the local white volcanic stone.

Day 5: Colca Canyon.

Drive through the spectacular scenery of the Aguada Blanca National reserve, under the shadows of Ampato Volcano. Your lodge is located deep in the heart of the Colca Canyon. Here you can choose from a variety of excursions including observing condors in flight. There’s also a visit to local villages or the chance to see beautiful pre-Columbian terraces that are still farmed today.

Day 6: Colca Canyon - Puno.

After a morning spent exploring the canyon, set off towards Lake Titicaca and arrive at your hotel in Puno. The city is considered Peru’s folkloric capital, so don’t be surprised if you see some vibrant traditional dancing and music.

Day 7: Lake Titicaca.

Explore the lake by boat on a full day tour, meandering around the Uros floating reed islands. You can also head to Taquile Island, home to a local Quechua-speaking community. Titicaca is the one of South America’s largest lakes and the world’s highest navigable body of water. At times the still waters seem to create a perfect mirror image of the majestic scenery. It’s a photographer’s paradise.

Day 8: Puno - Cusco.

Transfer to the airport and board your flight to Cusco, the capital of the Incan Empire. You’ll be met and driven to your charming city hotel. Take the rest of the day to explore on your own, getting lost in the maze of steep alleys and staircases, stumbling out into sun-bleached plazas with historic whitewashed churches.

Day 9: Cusco.

Explore more of this beautiful colonial city built on Incan foundations, taking a walking tour of its cobbled streets and pretty plazas. Discover the main square flanked by colonial archways and then head to the Inca site of Sacsayhuaman, an ancient fortress of huge boulders overlooking the red tiled rooftops of the city.

Day 10: Sacred Valley.

Today you’ll spend time in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, visiting the colourful town of Pisac and the impressive Incan fortress at Ollantaytambo. We aim to provide food, medical and dental care, a school and additional education to help give them a brighter future.

Day 11: Machu Picchu.

Board the train and make the scenic train journey to Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas. It’s located in the tropical foothills of the Andes, and your first sight of the citadel is always a special moment. Lost to the world for centuries, it’s a highlight of any Peru tour. Overnight at your hotel in Aguas Calientes, a lively town on the banks of the Urubamba River.

Day 12: Machu Picchu - Cusco.

Today you can immerse yourself further. Get a unique experience of the ruins by getting up at sunrise to visit the mist-shrouded citadel before the crowds arrive. Then it’s time to return by rail and road to Cusco where you’ll spend your final night.

Day 13: Cusco - Farewell.

You’ll be transferred to Lima to connect with your overnight flight from Lima to you home. It’s the end of your adventure for now, but Peru has a habit of getting under people’s skin and enticing them back, again and again.
