Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Lima.
Arrival in Lima, reception at the airport, and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2: Lima.
After a leisurely breakfast, enjoy a private guided visit of both colonial and modern Lima, including the cathedral (dating from 1654), the main square (which still houses the original bronze fountain built in 1650), and the San Francisco Convent with its catacombs.
Known as the "City of the Kings," Lima was founded in 1535 by Pizarro and rebuilt in 1991. That same year, UNESCO declared it a world heritage site. One of the few South American cities that preserve its colonial past, Lima was home to the Spanish viceroy during the colonial era.
After lunch, visit the Larco Museum, which houses permanent exhibitions such as the gold and silver gallery, showcasing the largest and finest collection of jewelry worn by pre-Columbian Peruvian rulers. Return to the hotel.
Day 3: Lima - Cusco - Urubamba.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco, the ancient Inca capital. Once in Cusco, transfer to a private vehicle and embark on a 1.5-hour drive to the Sacred Valley. From there, transfer to your hotel in Urubamba.
Rest and enjoy the peaceful location of the Sacred Valley. A private car with driver and guide will be at your disposal, although we recommend a relaxing day to acclimatize to the high altitude.
Day 4: Urubamba.
After a restful night, a hearty breakfast will prepare you for a private full-day excursion to the Sacred Valley's most important sites. The first visit will be to the ancient Inca market town of Pisac, where you'll see local produce and have the chance to purchase handicrafts, textiles, or ornaments.
Next, we'll drive above the market town to visit the less frequented Pisaq ruins, one of the largest and most impressive in the valley. After lunch at a charming hacienda, we'll visit Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town that resisted Spanish conquest. Explore the ruins before returning to Urubamba.
Day 5: Urubamba - Poroy - Machu Picchu.
After breakfast, a private transfer will take you to the Poroy rail station for the luxurious Hiram Bingham train to Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, transfer to your unique residence in the cloud forests.
Once you've checked in, board the bus with your guide for a short ride up to Machu Picchu, the ancient Inca citadel. Enjoy a private guided tour of Machu Picchu, the most spectacular ancient city in the world. Return to your hotel for accommodation.
Day 6: Machu Picchu - Cusco.
You have the option to return to Machu Picchu to witness the sunrise or, if preferred, take a rest and return mid-morning. This is a time for private reflection. A guide is not typically provided, as we believe Machu Picchu requires personal exploration to be fully appreciated.
However, your guide will always be available if you wish to visit additional sites within the sanctuary, such as the Temple of the Moon or the Inca Bridge. Afterward, enjoy lunch at the Sanctuary Lodge restaurant before returning to Aguas Calientes by bus.
Enjoy some free time before boarding the Hiram Bingham train in the early evening, accompanied by your guide. Arrival at Poroy after 9 PM, followed by reception and transfer to Cusco, the ancient Inca city. Transfer to your private residence.
Day 7: Cusco.
After breakfast, embark on a private guided tour of the sites outside Cusco, including the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman overlooking the city, as well as Qenko, Tambomachay, and Puka Pukara. Return to Cusco for lunch, followed by a visit to the fine Inca Museum. Return to your residence to relax.
Day 8 (Optional): Cusco - Choquequirao.
An optional day trip to visit the "other Machu Picchu," Choquequirao. Please inquire for details about this special option.
Day 9: Cusco - Juliaca - Puno.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Juliaca. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to Puno, located on the shores of Lake Titicaca. We will accompany you to your residence.
Day 10: Puno.
Visit the Uros Islands, made entirely of reeds and inhabited by the Aymara Uros people. They live in huts built on reed platforms that are just 30-40 cm (1 foot) thick. After a short hike on the islands, continue the boat trip to the island of Taquile.
Members of this self-sufficient Aymara community welcome visitors in colorful traditional costumes and show them around the island. Taquile is also famous for its fine, decorative weaving. Return to Puno and your hotel.
Day 11: Puno - Juliaca - Lima.
Enjoy some short excursions before being transferred to the airport for your return flight to Lima.
