Las Islas Flotantes de los Uros forman un archipiélago de casi un centenar de islotes, considerados una ciudad flotante donde la vida se desarrolla sobre la totora.

Experiencia vivencial con familias locales

Los visitantes comparten actividades cotidianas con los pobladores, participan en la pesca, la construcción de balsas y la elaboración de artesanías, viviendo un intercambio cultural auténtico.

Day 1

Itinerary

Welcome and transfer to the port

From the very first moment, we will be by your side so you can enjoy an authentic experience on the Floating Islands of Uros. We will pick you up from your hotel in Puno, the airport, or the bus station, depending on your arrival point. Then, we will travel together to Kalapajra Port, where we will board the boat that will take us to one of the floating islands.

Arrival on the island and family welcome

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by a local family, who will open the doors of their home built with totora reeds. During this welcome, you will learn about the importance of this aquatic plant, which is used to build the islands, houses, boats, and handicrafts that are part of the community’s daily life.

First day: local community activities

During the first day, we will share in the daily activities of the Uros people. We will have lunch with the host family and then take part in traditional experiences from the community. Among the activities, you will learn about cutting totora reeds, setting up fishing nets, and making handicrafts together with local inhabitants.

Sunset, traditional clothing, and family dinner

In the late afternoon, we will accompany you to a demonstration of traditional clothing, where you will discover part of the cultural identity of the Uros people. Afterwards, we will enjoy a family dinner in a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. The sunset over Lake Titicaca will be one of the most special moments of the day, perfect for admiring the landscape and taking photographs.

The night will be spent in a simple, comfortable accommodation prepared for an authentic experience on the floating islands.

Second day: traditional fishing and local breakfast

At sunrise, we will take part in collecting the fishing nets and observe some native fish species from Lake Titicaca. Then, we will share a breakfast prepared with local products, always accompanied by the majestic view of the lake as the main backdrop.

Return to Puno

Finally, we will board the boat back to the city of Puno. Upon arrival at the port, our team will be waiting to accompany you back to your hotel. This marks the end of a unique homestay experience, full of culture, tradition, and memorable moments with the families of the Floating Islands of Uros.
