The iconic Sun Gate is one of the greatest expressions of Tiwanaku stone craftsmanship. Its monumental structures, monoliths, and carved reliefs reveal the technical precision and deep symbolic knowledge of this ancient culture.

Itinerary

Day 1

Tour start – Hotel pickup in La Paz (08:00 a.m.)

Our experience begins with pickup from your hotel in downtown La Paz at 8:00 a.m., followed by the journey to the Tiwanaku archaeological complex, located 72 km southeast of Lake Titicaca. Arrival is expected around 10:30 a.m.

Day 2

Introduction to the Tiwanaku civilization

Tiwanaku is recognized as one of the oldest civilizations in the Andean region (1300 B.C. – 1200 A.D.), known for its advanced cultural development and influence across much of South America. Its monumental constructions continue to impress with their precision and symbolism.

Day 3

Visit to the Tiwanaku Site Museum

The first stop is the Tiwanaku Site Museum, where important lithic and ceramic pieces are preserved, including traditional keros, used in ceremonial rituals and later buried as part of spiritual practices.

Day 4

Tour of the archaeological complex

We then explore the main sectors of the archaeological complex, including the Sun Gate, Akapana Pyramid, Bennett Monolith, Kalasasaya Temple, the Stone Museum, and other areas of great historical value.

Day 5

Monumental architecture and stone blocks

Despite the passage of time, the site continues to impress with its carved reliefs, ceremonial walls, and massive stone blocks, including one of the largest in the world, weighing approximately 131 tons.

Day 6

Visit to Puma Punku and lunch

We continue to Puma Punku, one of the most enigmatic sectors of the complex, famous for its colossal and perfectly assembled stone blocks. Here, we enjoy a typical lunch at a nearby tourist restaurant.

Day 7

Return to La Paz (approx. 04:00 p.m.)

After the visit, we begin our return to La Paz, arriving around 4:00 p.m., ending a day full of history, mystery, and ancestral knowledge.
