Pickup and Departure to Chivay

The tour starts very early, around 2:30 a.m., with pickup from your hotel in Arequipa. We will then depart toward Chivay on an approximately 3-hour journey.

Breakfast and Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint

Upon arrival, we will make a short stop for breakfast before continuing to the Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint, where you can admire the majestic flight of the Andean condor and the vastness of the Colca Canyon.

Beginning of the Trek

Afterward, we will head to the Pampa San Miguel Viewpoint, the starting point of the hike. From here, we will begin the descent to the bottom of the canyon along ancient trails surrounded by Andean landscapes and views of the Colca River.

Lunch in San Juan de Chuccho

After approximately 3 and a half hours of hiking, we will arrive at the village of San Juan de Chuccho, where we will enjoy lunch prepared by the guide and take a well-deserved rest.

Route to Sangalle Oasis

In the afternoon, we will continue the hike through small villages such as Cosñirhua and Malata, where you can appreciate the rural life of the valley, until reaching Sangalle Oasis around 5:30 p.m.

Rest, Dinner and Accommodation

At the oasis, you will have free time to relax, enjoy the warm pool or explore the surroundings. In the evening, we will have dinner and spend the night in rustic adobe bungalows.

Ascent to Cabanaconde

Very early, around 4:00 a.m., we will begin the ascent from Sangalle Oasis to the village of Cabanaconde. This hike is demanding, but it offers spectacular sunrise views over the canyon.

Breakfast and Rest

After approximately 3 to 4 hours of hiking, we will arrive in Cabanaconde, where we will enjoy breakfast and take a short rest.

Route to Chivay

Afterward, we will board the transport to Chivay. Along the way, we will make stops in traditional villages such as Pinchollo, Maca and Yanque, as well as at natural viewpoints with views of agricultural terraces and Andean landscapes.

Hot Springs and Lunch

Upon arrival in Chivay, you will have the option to visit La Calera hot springs to relax after the trek. Then, you will have free time for lunch, which is not included.

Return to Arequipa

Finally, we will begin the return to Arequipa with stops at the Volcanoes Viewpoint and the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where you may observe South American camelids and high-altitude landscapes. Arrival in Arequipa will be at approximately 6:30 p.m., followed by transfer to your hotel.
