Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1: Arrival and first contact with the Amazon rainforest

We will welcome you in Puerto Maldonado and transfer you to the river port, where we will begin a boat journey along the river into the heart of the Tambopata Reserve. During the trip, you will start immersing yourself in the Peruvian Amazon, observing the first landscapes of tropical rainforest and its incredible wildlife.

Upon arrival, we will take an introductory jungle walk, ideal for spotting tropical flora, Amazonian birds, and other local species. Afterwards, we will arrive at the eco-lodge for check-in and a short rest.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat ride along the river, an excellent opportunity for wildlife observation and to experience the Amazon ecosystem in its most natural state.

Day 2

Day 2: Macaw clay lick and wildlife exploration

Early in the morning, we will navigate upstream to the famous Chuncho Clay Lick, one of the main highlights of the Peruvian Amazon. There, you will witness one of the most impressive natural spectacles in the country: hundreds of macaws and colorful parrots gathering on the clay cliffs at sunrise.

After this unique experience, we will return to the lodge for breakfast or lunch, depending on the schedule.

In the afternoon, we will take a guided jungle hike along rainforest trails, where you may observe monkeys, tropical birds, reptiles, and a wide diversity of Amazonian wildlife.

At night, you will have the option to join a caiman spotting activity, exploring the riverbanks accompanied by specialized guides.

Day 3

Day 3: Sandoval Lake and return to Puerto Maldonado

After breakfast, we will head towards the iconic Lake Sandoval, a stunning oxbow lake surrounded by primary Amazon rainforest. During the canoe excursion, you will have the chance to observe giant river otters, water birds, turtles, and capybaras in their natural habitat.

We will continue with a jungle walk around the lake, ideal for appreciating Amazonian biodiversity and capturing nature photography. Finally, we will return by boat to Puerto Maldonado, with transfer to your hotel, airport, or bus terminal according to your departure plan.Continue with a visit to Sandoval Lake, where a canoe excursion allows for observation of giant otters, aquatic birds and other species. A guided walk around the lake complements the experience before returning by boat to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to your departure point.
